RULES

NDCA

All rules will be compliant with the National Dance Council of America official regulations.

​

  • All competitors, Amateur, Pro-Am, and Professional must provide proof of NDCA 2023 registration before dancing.  â€‹Any competitor not currently registered with the NDCA will be required to register at the competition on their smartphone, and to show proof of registration, before being given a package, number, heat sheet or allowed to dance.
     

  • The NDCA syllabus is used for all closed categories. Closed syllabus events will be invigilated by an NDCA certified Invigilator.

  • We use the NDCA Premier competition software and the following categories will be included in the NDCA Premier National Ranking circuit. 
       Professional Open Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
       Amateur Open Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
       Pro/Am Open A Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
       Pro/Am Open B Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
       Pro/Am Open C Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth
       Pro/Am Open Senior Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Smooth


PRE-TEEN CLOTHING RESTRICTIONS

  • Pre Teen (11 & Under) competitors are restricted in costuming as per the NDCA rule book

Registration

Early Payment Rebate
 

  • Early Payment Rebate eligibility ends on February 10th.  All non-package adult pro-am or adult am-am entries PAID IN FULL by the Early Payment Discount Date of February 10th will receive a rebate check worth at the competition.  The rebate check will be made out to the original payor and is worth $5 for each adult pro-am or adult am-am entry that was paid for by the Early Payment Rebate Date. 
     

  • No Early Payment Rebate will be credited prior to a payment or to additional payments received after February 10th.
     

  • All payments must be received by the 10th to be eligible for the Early Payment Rebate.

Final Registration and Payment Deadline

​

  • Final Registration and Payment Deadline is February 26th 2023.  A $50 late fee per person will be charged for all registration and payments received after the deadline.
     

  • No studio checks, personal checks, money orders, and cashiers checks will be accepted after the final registration deadline or at the competition.
     

  • Only cash and credit card payments will be accepted at the event.
     

  • A $40 surcharge will be issued on all returned checks.

​

​Levels  
 

  • A student may only enter two dance levels, their own level plus one higher. Example:  A bronze level dancer may dance all bronze and silver levels but may not enter gold. 

​

Ages
​

  • Adult students may enter their own age level plus any age level below down to A.​

​

​Newcomer Events
 

  • Newcomer Events are open to students who have competed less than one calendar year.​

 

​Scholarships
 

  • To enter any Pro-Am Scholarship you must dance the same number of single dances as listed in each scholarship​. For example: each 3 dance Scholarship you must dance 3 single dances, for each 4 dance scholarship you must dance 4 single dances, for each 5 dance scholarship you must dance 5 single dances.... etc
     

​Proficiency Events
 

  • We are now offering proficiency categories in all levels and age groups for those who wish to compete for their own individual score rather than against others.​

Circuits

Dancers Cup Tour

​

  • Each DCT Competitor may redeem $300 maximum at Gateway Dancesport.  The voucher amount redeemed can only be used towards entries, it cannot be used towards packages, tickets, or miscellaneous purchases.  The student must purchase a minimum of twice the amount redeemed. For example: if they redeem $300, they must have $600 in entries (not including packages, tickets, etc). 
     

  • DANCERS CUP TOUR  only accepts vouchers from within the past one year - no exceptions. ​
     

  • All vouchers must be accompany your payment to be applied to your balance.  Photocopies, pictures, text and emails of vouchers will not be accepted.
     

World Dancesport Series

​

  • WDSS voucher amounts can be redeemed only for entries, it cannot be used towards packages, tickets, or miscellaneous purchases.  The student must purchase a minimum of twice the amount redeemed. Tickets & Seating

Reserved Table Seating 
 

  • All Daytime and Thursday Evening tickets are General Admission Seating. 
     

  • Reserved Table Tickets for Friday or Saturday Night only guarantees a specific table.  It does not guarantee a specific seat.
     

  • All Packages that include Friday night and Saturday night will include Reserved Table Tickets for those nights
     

  • Individuals wishing to purchase Reserved Table Tickets for Friday or Saturday night must purchase and pay for Reserved Table Tickets in advance.   Individuals that purchase Reserved Table Tickets on their own are not guaranteed to have seating with any particular group, but we will do our best to group you together.
     

  • Any Reserved Table Tickets not paid for within one week of the start date of the event will be released back to general admission sales. 
     

  • Reserved Table Ticket requests one week prior to the start date of the event will be subject to availability. 

​

Studio Seating
 

  • Studios or large groups that wish to include non-package holder students and/or guests at their studio table are encouraged to pre-purchase enough Reserved Table Tickets to ensure room for all of their guests.   Studio Table discounts available upon request.

Tickets
 

  • All Reserved Table Tickets are to be pre-purchased using the forms found online.  Once the event begins general admission tickets may be purchased at our registration desk.
     

  • Will Call:  All tickets and packages will be held at the registration desk

Refunds

Cancellations
 

  • After the final registration deadline (February 26) and before the first day of the event (March 9): Cancellations with refunds requests will be take on a case by case basis.  No refunds will be issued for meal tickets, reserved seats, or general admission tickets.  Any refunds given will be mailed by business check within 30 days after the close of the event, minus a $50 processing fee.
     

  • From the first day of the event onward: cancellations, missed heats, and scratches will not be eligible for refunds.  Emergency cancellations will be assessed on a case by case basis and may be eligible for a credit to next year's event.​

Release

All attendees, being fully cognizant of the risks inherent in ballroom dancing and exhibitions, shall hereby:
 

  • Assume all risks of bodily injury (including death) and property damage inherent in attending this event.
     

  • Release and hold harmless Promenade Extravaganza, Gateway Dancesport Championships,  Larinda McRaven, Daniel Messenger, and the National Dance Council of America, Inc. from all liability arising out of bodily injury (including death or damage), loss or theft of articles suffered by me while attending this event.
     

  • Consent to use and release of his/her name and likeness to be used in photographs, television filming and recording of the event used in connection with the television broadcast, exhibition, distribution or promotion of the event in any manner and by any means, now or in the future by Gateway Dancesport Championships LLC, Larinda McRaven, Daniel Messenger, or the National Dance Council of America, Inc. If any person has an objection to being video taped or the possibility of being seen on these tapes or in any publicity trailers or other use of his or her picture, please notify the organizers of this event in writing thirty days prior to the commencement. Failure to notify will be considered as permission granted.  
     

  • Be bound by the National Dance Council of America, Inc. rules and by participating in this event, automatically become obligated to adhere to them.
